We had a lot of great ideas generated at the retreat, focusing on where we want EWHC to be by the end of 2019. Some lofty goals were set and we embrace the challenge!
Thanks to all for a great Awards Celebration held at the Renaissance North on Tuesday, March 14, 2017. We are so pleased to have honored women who have made such important contributions to the Healthcare Industry. Congratulations to our award recipients, Julie Schnieders of St. Vincent Carmel Women's Center, Seema Verma of SVC, Inc. and Katie Miller of Hall Render Killian Heath & Lyman.
Thanks also to our emcee, Larra Overton of Fox59, and to Dr. Allison Barber of WGU Indiana, our Keynote Speaker who shared valuable leadership lessons learned from the events of 9/11 when she was working at the Pentagon.
We were also happy to have with us Jane-Claire Turner, our 2017 Lynne O'Day Scholarship Recipient who attended with her proud mom and dad. We hope that Jane-Claire always feels supported and uplifted by her colleagues throughout her career in healthcare.
What a fun evening and a great cause! To quote our most recent scholarship recipient, Ashley Johnson of Marian University,
"The EWHC Scholarship helped tremendously! Marian is an excellent school and the scholarship helped me by allowing me to work less and focus on my studies more so that I am able to maintain excellent grades. I have been honored and privileged to receive that scholarship from such an incredible organization."
Thank you to our event sponsor:
Thank you to all the wonderful people who came out and enjoyed a night with EWHC at Ruth's Chris!! And congratulations to all of our wonderful award winners!
Ashley Johnson - Scholarship Recipient
Kiley Wanecke - Membership Commitment Award
Catalyst Construction - Leadership Non-Member Award
Rebecca Seifert - Leadership Member Award
EWHC would also like to give a BIG thank you to not only Marianne Lyles for being our Mcee for the night, but also Dr. Lisa Harris for being our keynote speaker!! You both did a wonderful job and thank you for supporting the Executive Women in Healthcare!
October 9th, EWHC's members and their guests heard from Dr. Craig Wilson of Suburban Health Organization. He spoke in depth about what Suburban Health is doing to come into compliance with the Affordable Care Act, and how the Affordable Care Act has provided them the avenue to provide a better service, while keeping prices affordable, and access plentiful.
Lynne was an active supporter, fundraiser, and board member of EWHC for many years. She had an influence on many female leaders in our local healthcare community via her role with St. Vincent and various community healthcare organizations, sitting on the Board of Directors for the Gennesaret Free Clinics, St. Elizabeth/Coleman, Marquette Manor, the VNA, Ovar’Coming Together, and numerous other women focused health care organizations.
Lynne was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and died shortly thereafter, in August of 2010. Prior to Lynne's death, the EWHC board was considering establishing a scholarship to assist the development of young, female professionals who are pursuing a career in healthcare leadership. After Lynne's death the group posthumously named the scholarship in Lynne's honor and aligned the goals with her dedication and commitment to Marian University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and served on the university’s Board of Trustees from 1989 to 2006.
The EWHC Lynne O’Day Scholarship Fund will be an endowed fund that will sustain itself into the future. EWHC has committed to raising at least $25,000. EWHC has already contributed the first $5,000. To date we have raised over$70,000.
